Mr. Hussam Al-Khalidy was born in Baghdad, Iraq, where his life has been shaped by the strife during the Iran-Iraq war, the first Gulf War, the sanctions regime, and then with the sectarian violence after the U.S. invasion. Mr. Al-Khalidy worked with coalition forces at the Bucca Prison in the southern oil port of Basra, interrogating prisoners to determine whether they were involved in the insurgency. He immigrated to the United States in 2009 and now lives in Spokane
